Hello - I'm a regional academic at Open University in the South West managing courses in childhood and youth.

My interests include open educational practices and the relationship between formal and informal learning - issues reflected in my regular blog posts about multimedia & e-learning resources for the childhood and youth workforce at cyp-media.orgYou'll also find me on Twitter @CYPmedia and on Facebook at freeCYPmedia.

Teaching Interests

I have a history of joint-working with childhood and youth employers including:

2007-09: The Plymouth Higher Level Skills Programme.  A HEFCE-funded partnership between City of Plymouth Children's Services & two HEs - The OU and University College Plymouth St Mark & St John. The partnership created an employer workforce development programme including OpenLearn seminars for employees and an employer's area in OpenLearn's Labspace.
 
2004-07: The Childrens Workforce Learning Network. A partnership between The OU and Barnardos supporting work-based learning for volunteers and employees including 12 e-learning seminars based on OpenLearn units.

Current Research Projects

As a Fellow of the Support Centre for Open Resources in Education I've worked on CharityWise - a project to develop vocational OERs in partnership with the UK voluntary sector. I've maintained an ongoing blog, plus both a summary and report on the project have been published.
